We've been thrown a curve ball! Life is unfair, lets face it. It sometimes feels as if the horrible people flourish and the ones that simply try to be kind and compassionate souls just get trampled over. As you are probably guessing life has been somewhat difficult of late. Not as difficult as it is for so many but nevertheless its been stressful and tough going.
We tell our children to ignore the bullies for what goes around comes around, it will all work out in the end. The sad truth is though, this usually isnt the case! I had a wonderful discussion today with my Year 11 class. We were discussing the omniscient nature of God (if there is one!). We were grappeling with the idea that if God is all knowing then he knows what will happen before it does. If this is the case how can we have free will and does this mean that a bad person is destined to be bad since God knows in advance what that person's future will be? This somehow feels unfair! Anyway we began relating this to all sorts of situations such as a terminally ill person wanting active euthanasia. This goes against the sanctity of life and yet God knows in advance that you will choose euthanasia and so challenge religious authority! We discussed all the possible solutions to the idea of freewill versus determinism. Many of them pretty unsatisfactory!!
So, with no plausable answers as to why we sometimes get thrown a curve ball, we must simply carry on with our heads held high and a determined glint in our eye. My days are strange, I can go from discussing complex philosophical and ethical conundrums to fiddling about with emails or a paper border that refuses to stay stapled to a display! You just never know the way your day will pan out, much like life I suppose, so , let me leave you with these little words of wisdom, when in doubt......... Keep calm and carry on!!
Until tomorrow then xxx
